Over the past few years Lions Paul Shortis, Herman Fransen and Lynn Fredericks have been collecting 10 cent refundable cans, plastic bottles and stubbies for the Lions Childhood Cancer Research Foundation.
Together these three Lions have collected over 100,000 recyclable items with the fundraising tally just over $10,000.
All the collected funds are channeled directly to the Lions Childhood Cancer Research Foundation via D&M Scrap Metal of Corowa.
This fantastic goal has been achieved with the assistance of local organisations including Corowa Whisky and Chocolate, Boyer Automotive, Beaurepairs Corowa, Jones Plumbing, Corowa Community Men’s Shed, Hetherington’s Plumbing and many other individual donators in the Corowa and Wahgunyah district.
Wahgunyah local identity, Mr Allan Jones has been collecting for Children’s Cancer for many years, and recently offered his collection round to the Corowa Lions Club due to his inability to continue collecting.
The Lions Club of Corowa has also been offered cans, plastic and stubbies from the Corowa Cricket club and the Corowa Rowing Club to further boost the collection numbers.
Anyone wishing to assist the Corowa Lions Club with fundraising for the Lions Children’s Cancer Research Foundation with recyclable items or physical assistance can contact Lynn Fredericks on 0478 633 791 or the Lions Club of Corowa at corowa.nsw@lions.org.au
