Called the a-MAY-zing Weekend, it will have a key focus on supporting retail and hospitality businesses, while encouraging community members to come together with their four-legged friends.
Held over Saturday and Sunday, the aim is to provide an incredible weekend for locals and visitors alike.
Saturday’s activities will be concentrated in the Deniliquin CBD where you are invited to explore local shops, savour delicious food at eateries, and soak up the vibrant community spirit.
On Sunday it is ‘Doggy’s Day Out!’. starting at 10am at Deniliquin Memorial Park.
It is aligned with the RSPACA’s annual fundraiser, the Million Paws Walk.
You can take part for just a gold coin donation, and just a reminder that all dogs must be on a lead and under adequate control throughout the event.
Please also remember to bring your own doggy bags and clean up after your pooch.
Also at Memorial Park will be an Edward River Council information stand, where you can gather information about microchipping and registrations, breeders, transfer of pet ownership and steps to take if there is a barking dog in your neighbourhood.
The day also includes a best dressed competition, and practice runs for the Deni Dachshund Dash to take place later in the year at the Deni Business Chamber’s Street Bazaar.
“We’ll have the Best Business Dressed Dog Competition, where we invite people to put forward a pup representing their business to compete for the title,” Chamber CEO Kate Pitt said.
“We’re also asking all our sausage dog owners to get their dachshund’s ready for a practice run ahead of the main event at the Deni Bazaar on Melbourne Cup weekend.
“Whether you have a dog or not, everyone is welcome to join in the fun!
“Don’t miss out on this awesome event!”
