On Saturday, October 3 locals gathered at Victoria Park Lake in Shepparton to help raise awareness and vital funds for the 48,000 babies born premature or sick in Australia each year.
The event had 70 registrants and raised $3500 in total.
Life’s Little Treasures Foundation chief executive Felicia Welstead said the event was a hit with the kids.
“Kids loved the bubbles during the remembrance ceremony for the babies who have not survived being born premature,” Ms Welstead said.
City of Greater Shepparton Mayor Geoff Akers said it was a pleasure to see an organisation supporting regional families and raising awareness across Shepparton.
“Today is not just about walking, it is about recognising resilience, strength and the courage of families who face the challenges of having a premature or sick baby,” Cr Akers said.
“It’s about coming together as a community to show our support to families who have an incredibly difficult start to their parenting journey.”
The event was put on by Baby Bunting, with personnel from sponsor Furphy’s and the local Rotary club attending.
There are more walks scheduled across the country for the remainder of the month.
