The decision reflects significant changes within the aged care sector, including funding reform, compliance obligations and the increasing scale required to deliver home-based care services sustainably.
Cooinda chair Liz Lloyd and chief executive Denise Hooper said the decision had been made after careful consideration of both community needs and Cooinda's responsibility to remain sustainable into the future.
“This is a difficult decision and one that has not been taken lightly,” Ms Lloyd said.
“However, our responsibility is to ensure that Cooinda remains strong and able to continue providing essential aged care services to the Benalla community for many years to come.
"This is a strategic restructure of services, not a withdrawal from our commitment to older people.
“Cooinda remains a strong, stable and community-focused organisation.
“Most importantly, no client will be left without support.
“Every client will be personally assisted to transition to an alternative provider, with continuity of care remaining our highest priority.
"Cooinda understands that this announcement may be upsetting and create uncertainty for many staff.
“We recognise this is a challenging time, and we are committed to supporting our staff throughout the process."
Ms Lloyd said Cooinda will continue its longstanding commitment to the Benalla community through the provision of residential aged care, retirement living and accommodation services, while working closely with clients, families and sector partners throughout the transition.
