A keen lawn bowler, Gwen was very involved in the club serving as club president, club champion and was awarded Life Membership.
A woman of faith, Gwen was also an active member of the Presbyterian Church.
Above all, her greatest joy was her family and her love for her grandson, eight granddaughters and 21 great grandchildren were perfect in her eyes.
Gwenyth Doris Gyles was born in Corowa on January 18, 1928.
She was the second child and only daughter of Murray and Ilma Gyles and one of seven children.
Gwen attended Corowa Primary and Corowa Intermediate High Schools before leaving school to work in the family business, Gyles Newsagency.
At a local ball, Gwen met Bob Tait; romance blossomed and they married in 1950 and raised five children, Robert, Pam, Neville and twins Peter and Sandra, on the farm ‘Hazelglen’, Ringwood.

Gwen was actively involved in the Rennie Football and Cricket Clubs, serving the afternoon teas.
Gwen worked at Karinya as a supervisor/carer and on the Karinya Auxiliary until she was 92.

The Gwen Tait triples bowls day was held last Thursday with 32 teams and almost 100 bowlers from across northeast Victoria competing for the annual trophy.
