Former Federation Council deputy mayor, Shaun Whitechurch has been appointed as new general manager at Corowa Golf Club.

Former Federation Council deputy mayor Shaun Whitechurch has been appointed as general manager of Corowa Golf Club in the newly elected board’s first act since coming together at the AGM on August 6.

Mr Whitechurch will take over the role on August 31 with the responsibility of working with the new board to steer the embattled club forward.

Outgoing GM Ashley Boyd has this year helped steer the club through one of its darkest periods, avoiding a potential closure and successfully navigating a period of voluntary administration.

Mr Boyd said he wasn’t involved in the appointment of his replacement, as it’s a process that’s run entirely by the board, and while he’s looking forward to transitioning out of the position, he’ll be staying on for the handover period.

“The board has two jobs: to appoint and manage the general manager, and to steer the strategic direction for the club,” Mr Boyd said.

“The process concluded just after the AGM, and the first item of business was working through that.

“I've extended to Shaun and the board that if they need to call me to ask any questions down the road they can do so.”
