This year’s convention, held at St Mary’s School Hall from October 24-26, features a standout speaker program offering rare access to hear from changemakers, advocates, and emerging leaders.
It’s also a chance to learn more about Lions and the vital work they do in communities across Australia.
Whether you're a long-time supporter or simply curious, this is an opportunity to learn about Lions, discover how they serve their communities and explore ways to get involved.
On Saturday, October 25 speakers include Australian Lions Foundation Ambassador Sari-Elle Kraemer who is literally running a 42km marathon before crossing the border, with a stop at the local parkrun, before opening the convention at 9am.
Following Sari-Elle is David Horne who will talk about Lions-trained assistance dogs and how they are transforming lives across Australia.
After lunch, Ron Skeen OAM will talk about the life-saving research supported by the Australian Lions Children’s Cancer Research Foundation, and how Lions are helping to improve outcomes for children and families affected by cancer.
His talk is followed by keynote speaker, Judy Brewer, whose work at Mudgegonga, and her legacy alongside her husband, the Late Hon. Tim Fischer, offers a powerful reminder of compassion in action.
Judy is a passionate advocate for children with disabilities and will deliver a heartfelt keynote on inclusive care and community support.
The final speaker on Saturday is the Leo of the Year state winner, a young leader whose dedication and vision represent the next generation of service.
On Sunday Sari-Elle will share her extraordinary story of her marathon on Mt Everest to raise awareness for mental health and to raise funds for the Australian Lions Foundation.
Then finally, be inspired by the voices of tomorrow as junior participants in the Lions Junior Public Speaking Program take the stage to share their speeches.
This showcase highlights confidence, creativity, and the impact of youth leadership in our communities.
You are invited to come along for a weekend of connection, community, and inspiration.
The Corowa Lions District Convention is more than an event, it’s a celebration of service, legacy, and the stories that shape our future.
