The Echuca Regional Health and Kagome fundraiser will help raise money for mental health and wellness services in the region.
Mr Sloane was happy to support Kagome and Glenn Austin, with whom he shares similar values on manufacturing and the nutritional value of food products.
From humble beginnings of growing up on a farm, the farm-to-table concept was nurtured at an early age.
In the early 1970s when Mr Sloane was considering his future, New Zealand was in its infancy as far as tourism was concerned.
If one wanted a good grounding, one would join the armed services. Mr Sloane joined the army, which gave him the opportunity to study abroad in the UK.
Through this path, he was also integrated for a short while with the Australian services.
This began a 45-year career for Mr Sloane, who spent 16 years as the executive leader of three resorts, including the Galaxy Macau, Resorts World Sentosa and Marina Bay Sands.
His enjoyment of Asia was clear when he decided to live permanently in the region for the past 25 years.
Mr Sloane has been a strong voice in training and going the extra mile to help those less privileged in underdeveloped regions, like arranging support and helping their community of chefs to be recognised and supported by their peers.
He has held two executive portfolios with the World Association of Chefs’ Societies. He was the continental director for Asia and the past global vice president.
The fundraiser, Celebrating Culinary Careers, will take place at Morrisons Winery from 6-11pm on May 17. The proceeds from the evening will go towards mental health and wellbeing programs at Echuca Regional Health.
