The bulls have a lot of visual carcase, which is backed up by their breed plan data. The sires of these bulls are breed leading both in terms of phenotype and their data.
Lead sire is Tobruk Southern Cross S015, who was purchased as a yearling for a record price of $91,000. In a tough selling environment last year his first 15 sons sold to $28,000 and averaged $11,133.
His impressive and unique data includes being a trait leader for birthweight, 200, 400 and 600 day wt. and IMF. Days Whiteface has 20 sons of Southern Cross on offer.
This year he is joined by homebred Herefords Australia Super Sire Landlord T064. Landlord’s first sons have his impressive length and sire appeal.
Landlord is a trait leader for gestation length, 200, 400 and 600 day wt. And scrotal size.
We have a couple of standout sons by high marbling sire Wirruna Steakout S457 that were used as yearlings. Steakout is top one per cent for IMF and both selection indexes.
Like 2025 there will also be a selection by outcross US sire SHF Houston. He is a trait leader for 200,400 and 600 day wt. as well as being top one per cent for EMA and both indexes.
We will have a small selection on display at Casterton Saleyards on Wednesday, February 4. Our on-property field day is Monday, February 9. Our bull sale is Monday, February 23 at noon.
