Those were the words of Royal Flying Doctor Service Victoria corporate affairs manager Jesse Earle after a transport car was damaged in a fire a few weeks ago.
Police and CFA were called to the car park of Cobram Hospital, Charles St, on Wednesday, August 19, at 2.40am after reports of a fire.
A police spokesperson said a sedan had been deliberately set alight, with a car beside it also catching fire.
The car beside the sedan was later identified as a Flying Doctor Community Transport vehicle.
Mr Earle said service delivery was minimally affected thanks to additional Flying Doctor Community Transport services in the Central Victoria and Goulburn Valley regions.
“Our fleet management team is working to replace the community transport vehicle, and we expect this to occur in the first two weeks of September,” he said.
“This service would not be possible without the power of community spirit ... partners, volunteer drivers, donors and communities in Cobram and across the Goulburn Valley.
“Their commitment has helped us respond quickly and continue delivering Flying Doctor Community Transport services following this incident.”
Community Transport is entirely donor funded and provides more than 5200 free journeys in the Goulburn Valley each year.
“Every vehicle represents the generosity of our supporters and the commitment of the volunteers who give their time to help others,” Mr Earle said.
