Federation Council Mayor said each year the festival encourages participants to be active, social, and healthy. It is also an opportunity to make new friends or reconnect with other community members.
“The Seniors Festival is our chance to say thank you to senior residents of our community for their service and contribution,” Mayor Bourke said.
“The Federation Ageing Well Committee once again has created a diverse program of events across the council area and I would like to encourage seniors in our community to get live and local this year by attending one of their closest events.”
The Ageing Well Festival promises a range of activities, providing opportunities for seniors to make new friends or reconnect with long-lost ones.

Exercise & Pamper Day
The festival kicks off with the “Ageing Well = Exercise & Pamper Day,” where attendees can indulge in pampering sessions and try taster sessions of the MLHD Active Ageing Program or Yoga. The event, set for Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at 10 am, will also feature a guest speaker emphasizing the importance of regular exercise for overall health and wellbeing.
Eat Right Indoor Picnic
On Thursday, March 14, 2024, seniors are invited to the “Ageing Well = Eat Right Indoor Picnic” at the Howlong Golf Resort at 12 pm. Roll out the gingham tablecloths and join the guest speaker for insights into maintaining a healthy diet to age well.
Be Social Paint and Sip Workshop
Unleash your creativity at the “Be Social Paint & Sip Workshop” on Monday, March 18, 2024, at 11 am at the Oaklands RSL Club. Participants will be guided by local group Quirky Events to create their own masterpieces while enjoying a social atmosphere.
Rest and Recreation Movie Day
Partnering with the Yarrawonga Mulwala Golf Club Resort, the Council invites seniors to a luxurious “Rest and Recreation Movie Day” on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at 10:30 am. The day includes a special movie screening and a delightful lunch, emphasising the importance of quality sleep and relaxation for good health.
Stay Sharp Trivia
Concluding the festival is “Stay Sharp Trivia” on Sunday, March 24, 2024, at 11 am at the Corowa Golf Club. Join in for a day of brain-teasing fun, with lunch included- and a guest speaker shedding light on staying sharp against elder abuse, scams, and senior fraud.
As an added treat during the NSW Seniors Festival, seniors can make a splash at the Corowa Aquatic Centre and the Howlong Pool with discounted entry prices for residents who show their seniors card. The Federation Ageing Well Festival celebrates ageing well in the Federation Council area, acknowledging the vital role older individuals play in the community.
