An HRCLS lawyer will hold monthly legal clinics, and the organisations community development lead will be working to build connections in Corowa.
Hume Riverina Community Legal Service is committed to addressing domestic and family violence in the Southern Riverina.
Since 2022, HRCLS has delivered targeted legal assistance to victim-survivors and women at risk of domestic violence in Deniliquin, Finley and Corowa.
“In partnership with Women’s Domestic Violence Court Advocacy Service (WDVCAS), and Intereach, we have worked to address the unique challenges faced by women in rural communities, including high rates of domestic violence, geographic isolation, limited services, and barriers to disclosure,” HRCLS director, Sarah Rodgers said.
With a dedicated program lawyer and community engagement worker building relationships and trust with local organisations, HRCLS is connecting with women who may not otherwise access legal help.
From July 2022 to July 2025, HRCLS has supported 226 clients and delivered 407 legal services, with referrals steadily increasing through community partnerships.
If you or someone you know needs legal assistance, please reach out to WDVCAS, Intereach, or call HRCLS on 02 6055 8090.
