Driver ejected during rollover

A 27 year-old visitor to the region was airlifted to Melbourne last last week after a crash on the Carrathool Rd at Steam Plains.

Witnesses told police the man’s car was driving toward them on the dirt road about 4.20pm on Friday, April 12 when it veered to the right hand side of the road.

It then rolled five or six times before colliding with a barbed wire fence.

The driver was ejected from the vehicle during the crash.

Murray River Police District Acting Inspector Brett Collins said the driver was airlifted to the Royal Melbourne Hospital in a “serious condition”.

Act Insp Collins is now calling an any other witnesses, or anyone who may have dash cam footage, to come forward as police continue their investigations.
