Curated by renowned contemporary artist Simon Grant, the three-day festival from April 17–19 will see the streets of Benalla become a living, breathing canvas.
Dulux has donated 300 litres of paint for the Festival with the famous Dulux Dog scheduled to appear at the festival on Saturday, April 18.
“We’re delighted to be able to support an event like this that is making Benalla one of Australia’s most exciting street art destinations,” Dulux community manager Sophie Brereton said.
“Every year we donate thousands of litres of paint to worthy causes, and we see this as an important event for not only promoting regional tourism, but giving a vital platform for public art.”
The dog’s appearance marks 50 years of the Dulux Dog being a favourite brand icon in Australia.
The Dulux Dog was first introduced to Australian households in 1976 with a dog called Mr Boswell wearing a Dulux branded cap.
Colour television was just a year old, and ‘Bos’ quickly became a firm favourite with the Australian public.
"The Dulux Dog has been a symbol of trust and protection for Australian homes for half a century," Ms Brereton said.
"We’re expecting the dog to be a big hit amongst locals in Benalla who can come and snap a selfie whilst marvelling at the creativity and colour of the street murals.”
The weekend festival will see 11 new large-scale murals added to Benalla’s open-air gallery.
