The twenty-year-old crooner will perform his very first solo show at the Oddfellows Hall this Saturday in a show celebrating the tunes of Frank Sinatra, Michael Bublé, Elvis Presley and Broadway. The concerts have been a massive hit previously in Wahgunyah, Howlong, Berrigan and Albury, selling out each time before he hits the venue.
Supported by local Celtic Folk band, Inveran, the show includes many up-tempo classics and ballads, taking you back to a time of easy-listening and meaningful lyrics. Inveran will blend their Celtic inspired tones with Dylan’s rich baritone voice in a couple numbers throughout the show, as well as perform by themselves.
Dylan, a university student in Melbourne, said he loves returning home to Corowa, and fills his time with many music gigs and performances.
“My training over the last six years has allowed me to perform night after night, and I love seeing the appreciative faces of many new people, and my dedicated followers, at each gig,” he said.
“It is a lot of work to put on such a big show as a star and producer, but the rewards feel great after you’ve finished a monumental event like this.”
Dylan said he first fell in love with the songs of Sinatra and The Rat Pack thanks to his grandfather’s record player, which had plenty of albums from that genre.
“I got hooked and have studied singing in Melbourne and Adelaide and hope to make it my career after I get my university degree,” he said.
As well as the recent Carols, Dylan has appeared in many productions on the border over the last few years including, “Let it Go”, with Albury Wodonga Theatre Company, “Matilda the Musical”, with The Scots School Albury, and most notably, “Dylan Forge Live” and, “An Elegant Affair” his solo and duo shows.
He also performed at a recent Corowa Festival of Dance event at the Memorial Hall in December.
“It was something a bit different but very enjoyable,” Dylan said.
“I had to fit the songs to the bpm and the time signatures of what corresponds to the fox trot and those sorts of dances.”
Dylan also spoke proudly of his recent performances at the Albury and Wodonga Carols.
“I did two numbers at both those shows which was fantastic,” he said.
“Albury had 11,000 people and Wodonga 8,000 people so big crowds.
“I also did a Christmas concert a DeBortoli’s in Rutherglen. Now it’s all ramping up towards the tour.”
Dylan has recorded music with Stuart Rennie, with their latest single together, “When Winter Comes” reaching the #1 spot on Atomic’s Independent Australian Charts.
