Held at Hopwood Gardens on October 24, Campaspe Shire Council’s Emergency Services Expo brought together emergency service agencies and local families for a day of safety, awareness and preparation.
CFA District 20 Campaspe catchment commander Paul Elso said the event built on a strong program of community engagement activities held across the region in recent weeks.

“Every time CFA members engage with the community is a success, as messaging about planning, preparedness and awareness is spread, leading to people’s safety,” Mr Elso said.
“Community members not only get a chance to meet emergency service personnel and understand what services exist, they receive valuable information and learn about their personal responsibility in preparing themselves and their property.
“They also give us the opportunity to hear from community members on any concerns or what’s important to them as much as it is about them hearing from us.”

Residents are being urged to use the remaining time before the Fire Danger Period begins to clean up properties, reduce fuel loads and complete any planned burn-offs while conditions and regulations still allow.
