The festival was organised by the college’s arts team, led by Kate De Fazio.
Students were able to take part in a range of artistic activities, including painting, felting, stencilling, observational drawing and tie-dying.
There was also an opportunity to take part in a few workshops featuring music, drama and even Celtic singing — as well as one-on-one filmmaking with smart phones.
Principal Shaun Mason said the festival was a response to two years of interrupted schooling.
“Kate De Fazio came up with the idea,” Mr Mason said.
“It was about getting students to do something outside of their comfort zone. To get them back to the joy of learning and having that curiosity.”
Mr Mason said it was embraced by students from years 7 to 12.
“We were stoked with the uptake and interest from students,” he said.
“We are really keen to see the arts expand at FCJ, and this was an opportunity for students to be involved with performing arts, and visual arts.
“We had a great relationship with the gallery connecting us to local artists, it was just wonderful.”
Ms De Fazio said she was pleased with how everything went.
“We had a band come up from Melbourne, Curly and the Fringe, we got them because James Howlett is the front man, and he comes form Benalla,” Ms De Fazio said.
“They ran a few workshops and did a performance as well.
“We also had Maria Ford do a Sean-nós — which is Celtic singing.
“That was fantastic with the acoustics in the gallery.”
Mr Mason said the festival and partnership with the gallery was a big success and students were already looking forward to next year.
