Tongala Eats and Beats is returning to Mangan St for its fourth year running on Sunday, October 12, offering a diverse range of eats, and an even more delightful array of beats.
Co-organiser Amber Townsend said there was a lot for people to look forward to.
“There really is going to be something for everyone this year,” she said.
Food lovers of all ages will be spoilt for choice, with authentic cuisines from around the world.
There will be Vietnamese delights from Min Min Kitchen, Filipino favourites from Nanna Marce, and genuine Dutch pancakes from Poffertjes Lane, among other tempting food stalls and trucks.
As for the beats, attendees will be able to hear from three artists, with Jefferson Smith, Emma Black and Darcy Ramage soundtracking the day.
There will be family-friendly activities for kids to enjoy, including old-school games, bubbles and more, while adults can dance or relax to music.
Accompanying the festival will be the official opening of the mural for Sir Douglas Nicholls, commemorating the 100th anniversary of his first game for Tongala Football Club.
The mural’s opening will kick off the Eats and Beats celebration at 11.45am.
Ms Townsend said she hoped both events cultivated an environment of community.
“We’ve got beautiful facilities in Tongala, so it was just a nice way to bring everyone together in a family-friendly environment, low cost and alcohol-free,” she said.
“It’s about seeing everyone connect. It’s low pressure, no stress.
“Once it all comes together and people come through the gates, it’s really nice to sit back and see people enjoying and connecting with people they might not have seen around the community.”
Ms Townsend said she hoped the event would show off what Tongala had to offer, spotlighting the strength of the town.
“It’s really a day to encourage people to come across to Tongala and see what the small towns like us have to offer,” she said.
Tongala Eats and Beats will run from 11.45am to 3pm, and entry is by gold coin donation.
More information about the event will be available on the Visit Tongala Facebook page as the day nears.
