Council endorsed the funding at the May Council meeting, following an earlier decision to investigate video production as a tool for attracting large-scale conferences and exhibitions to the Federation Local Government Area.
The video aims to give a competitive edge when bidding for events that can attract between 700 and 1,000 visitors, providing a significant economic stimulus to motels, restaurants, and retail outlets.
Federation Council mayor, Cheryl Cook emphasised the strategic importance of developing professional marketing assets to elevate the region's profile.
“This video is about putting the Federation Council area on the map for event organisers and investors across the state and country,” Cr Cook said.
“We have the infrastructure and the community spirit to host major gatherings, and it is time we have professional visual assets that reflect our capability and our unique regional charm.”
The production will include professional filming and aerial drone footage of regional landmarks and business hubs and aligns with Council’s 2025-2029 goal to increase tourism and support local business development.
Following Council approval, a procurement process will begin to select a provider with a proven track record in regional marketing.
Engagement with local business and tourism operators will occur as the project commences to ensure the final product authentically represents Federation’s diverse opportunities.
“Whether it is an international conference or a domestic tourism group, we want them to see that the Federation is ready to welcome them with open arms and professional facilities,” Cr Cook said.
