Urana Campdraft Incorporated will receive $115,538 to be used for earthworks on the Campdraft Arena while the Urana Caravan Park will receive $100,000 for much-needed improvements.
“Funding for the Campdraft Arena will be used for earthworks which will improve the facility and help ensure its future as a real asset in the community,” Member for Albury Justin Clancy said.
“And with funding of $100,000 to the Urana Caravan Park, Federation Council will be able to work on improvements to maintain its position as a driver of the local economy through encouraging tourism and as an affordable accommodation option.”
Councillor David Fahey OAM said the funding for both the Urana Campdraft and the Urana Caravan Park is a massive boost for the Urana township.
“The Urana Caravan Park is becoming increasingly popular. This sort of funding keeps villages alive and adds to the economy. We will be able to carry out improvements which will attract more people in town and ensure it remains viable.
“The Campdraft had to cancel their event last year because of drainage issues. This will alleviate that problem in the future and they will be ale to run that event in almost all weather.
“The annual event attracts people from all over the state. They are pretty much booked out months in advance. It’s a great event, run by hardworking volunteers and really puts Urana on the map.

Deputy Mayor Shaun Whitechurch said volunteers are the “driving force of the Oaklands community”.
“This funding is fantastic news for the Oaklands community and will aid the many user groups of the recreation reserve and the wider community. It’s been a tough few years for communities like Oaklands and we know this will go a long way to getting them back on their feet.”
Mr Clancy said the Stronger Country Communities Fund “allows government to work together with council and its community to create places and opportunities where families can be active, pursue their interests or create a welcoming environment for tourists to enjoy the real benefits of country living.”
Round Five of the Stronger Country Communities Fund will support local community and sporting infrastructure projects, street beautification, public programs and events that display the best of local character and community spirit.

The Stronger Country Communities Fund is part of the NSW Government's $3.3 billion Regional Growth Fund, designed to support growing regional centres, activate local economies, and improve services and community infrastructure in the regions.
