Rutherglen’s new Glenview Residential Aged Care facility on Main St expands its capacity to 50 beds while creating a more home-like environment for residents.
The new Glenview Residential Aged Care facility in Rutherglen has featured in two awards won by Zauner Construction at the Master Builders Victoria Regional Building Awards last month.

The project was completed in May 2025 and aimed to create a home-like environment for residents after relocating the Glenview Community Care Nursing Home to a new site in Main Street, Rutherglen.
The bigger site allowed the facility to expand from 40 to 50 beds while giving residents their own rooms with private ensuite bathrooms.
Zauner Construction Pty Ltd won awards for their work at Glenview in two categories; Best Sustainable Project, and Excellence in Construction of Commercial Buildings $20M-$50M.
Paul Maginnity, the project manager at Zauner Construction oversaw the Glenview project and said it was a great surprise to receive awards for the build, which took two years to complete using 65,000 bricks and just under 160 tonnes of steel.
“It’s good to be recognised for all the hard work that gets put into a project,” Mr Maginnity said.
“We had administration and site teams overseeing the project, and we felt it was important to engage as many local trades as we could.
“It was a major skills project for the State Government, and we inducted 1,200 workers to complete the work.
“We were also set a women in construction target of four percent, which we well and truly achieved at 12.5 percent.”
According to the Victorian Health Building Authority, the new facility will help residents feel at home, grouping rooms into smaller households with dedicated kitchen, dining, lounge and sitting areas.
The facility, operated by Glenview Health, features a community room, reflection room and other common areas for residents to interact with each other and their family and friends.
The project was part of the Victorian Government’s Rural and Regional Public Sector Residential Aged Care Services Revitalisation Strategy.
The MBV Regional Building Awards recognise exceptional craftsmanship and excellence in the construction sector across regional Victoria.
Master Builders Victoria Chief of Public Affairs, Dr Corrie Williams, congratulated the winners on their outstanding achievements, highlighting the ongoing strength and resilience of Victoria’s regional building industry.
