Hugh’s score of four-under-par (50) was enough to fend off dad Tim Hicks on 52 and Tyson Logie on 53 and go into a thrilling play-off finish with pro golfer James Gordon, who also finished on 50.
The play-off took a twist when Gordon overshot the fairway and landed in the rough in a rare faux pas from the tour regular.
Young Hicks, not to let a golden opportunity sink in the bunkers, was cool under pressure and holed the 18th in four shots to take victory.
The inaugural tournament was a hit, with more than 40 entrants taking on the challenging and picturesque course.
Inaugural mini-golf tournament winners - Tim Hicks in 2nd (52), Hugh Hicks in 1st (50) and Tyson Logie in 3rd (53) after a tense and exciting battle to the last hole.
Club Corowa duty manager Ben Harvey was host for the evening and said it was great to see the diversity of entrants in the field.
“We’ve got young kids right through to grandparents playing here tonight,” Ben said.
“There’s even some board members getting involved, and a couple of pro’s in James Gordon and Tim Purtill.
“Some of the staff have played this course; it’s very challenging.”
Harper Aston celebrates on the 18th after putting in just two shots.
Marketing and events manager Lauren Finlayson said the turnout had been amazing.
“We’ve seen more kids here than we expected, given the time slot,” Lauren said.
“We’re hoping to run more of these events in the future; particularly in the holidays where we can have one for kids at a friendlier time of day.”

Club Corowa CEO Peter Norris said the club had been delighted with the mini-golf course since its installation last year and was excited to hold more tournaments in the future.
“We’ll get an honour board made up for course record holders,” Mr Norris said.
“It will be displayed outside at the course, and whenever someone sets a course record, their name will go up on the board.
“But it will only be for in-tournament scores; you’ll have to enter one of our official tournaments if you want to get your name up there.”
Sue King, Kellie Briggs, Briony Briggs and Donna King get ready to start the tournament.
There was plenty to play for with prizes for the top three finishers up for grabs.
Tournament winner Hugh Hicks walked away with a Scotty Cameron putter and a stunning custom glass trophy.
Second placed Tim Hicks scored a $200 voucher for golf lessons with James Gordon, and third placed Tyson Logie won a dozen Titleist Pro V1 CC branded golf balls.
But there are more than just prizes on the line.
If the ‘friendly’ banter, gentle nudging and sledging between shots was anything to go by, there’s a few egos to keep in check and a bit of personal pride at stake also.
