Kindling Men’s Shed focus

The longer than usual cold period this year has seen a different focus by Rutherglen Men’s Shed members this year.

“Kindling production has been our main focus as we endeavoured to keep up with demand over a very cold season,” publicity officer Steve Jones told The Free Press.

“Quantities produced were far in excess of our first production year last year and we’re still making, bagging and selling kindling.”

The Men’s Shed appreciates the town’s three outlets retailing their product.

President Ed Waller said the approximate 15-year-old men’s shed which currently has 15 members is on the lookout for more members.

“We have a great shed, a fantastic facility,” he said of the two-year-old building. “We work with wood, steelmetal, metal and fix engines.

“It’s a good social environment and we solve the problems of the world! So if there are retired men out there they are most welcome to join us.”

Located in the showgrounds, Rutherglen Men’s Shed is open Tuesday and Thursday mornings.
