Tricia Deakin, Chris McDonald and Lisa Styles are among the names behind EMTC’s blockbuster year, with the company’s daring production of The Rocky Horror Show emerging as an awards juggernaut with 18 nominations.
Tricia, who directed the cult musical, has been nominated for the prestigious Ken Kennedy Award for Achievement in Direction, as well as Achievement in Lighting Design.
Chris has earned a nomination for Achievement in Musical Direction, and Lisa for Achievement in Choreography, putting the Kyabram trio in the running for individual honours alongside the production’s tilt at Best Musical.
And Trish’s success does not stop with Rocky Horror.

She has also been nominated for Achievement in Lighting Design in a Junior Show for EMTC’s Frozen Jr, giving her three individual nominations across the company’s two productions.
The extraordinary haul caps a massive year for EMTC, which has collected 23 nominations across acting, singing, direction, choreography, costumes, lighting, set design and other production categories.
But it is Rocky Horror creating most of the awards buzz.
“Staging The Rocky Horror Show for the first time in this region as a community theatre production was always going to be a wild ride,” Tricia said.
“What this cast and crew created went far beyond anything I could have hoped and dreamed of.”
“I’m incredibly proud of them all.”
For Chris, Rocky Horror hit a particularly high note, with the live band playing an integral role in the production.
“Working with a live band with such amazing musicians was the highlight for me and it was clear how much it lifted the entire cast’s energy in each performance,” he said.

“It was such a lovely surprise to be acknowledged for my contribution to Rocky, and also to see how many of the other cast and crew were recognised for their hard work as well.”
For Lisa, the latest recognition follows Georgy Award success last year, when she took home the gong for her choreography of EMTC’s Mamma Mia!
And the Kyabram district contingent doesn’t stop there, with Darcy McLindon, Sarah Mott and Sue Windsor among Rocky’s Phantoms nominated for Best Ensemble.
The Georgy Awards recognise achievement in community theatre across the Goulburn Valley.
The winners will be announced at the 53rd annual Georgy Awards in Shepparton on November 7.
