After showing absolute contempt for our First Nations people over The Voice to Parliament referendum, and now the decision of Council to remove the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags from Chambers, why doesn't this shire simply flip them the bird?
Oh wait, it just did.
Well done to Crs Bourke, Black, Wearne and Harrison for opposing this decision, which shows clearly that latent racism prevails in our region.
No wonder we have white supremacist groups that feel emboldened enough to march and letterbox drop in our town: how do people not realise they are facilitating these absolute grubs?

A good decision
I write to congratulate Federation Council for making the decision to fly only the Australian Flag in or at any of its properties.
I believe the NSW flag could also be flown. The decision to reduce the unnecessary Acknowledgement of Country is also appreciated.
The above practices have been and still are dividing our communities and Australians between Indigenous and the other Australians.
We are to be one nation under one flag.
Councils are to oversee rates, roads, rubbish, water and local issues, not to get involved in issues of political nature that divide our communities.
Let’s hope Federation Council’s decision will encourage other government and non-government organisations to rethink their position on decisions that are divisive.
