Club Corowa will host the event, with the opening ceremony on Friday morning and their gala dinner that evening where Inner Wheel will present the annual award winners.
This year there are three recipients, each receiving grants of around $60,000 to go towards their research.
Each of the three recipients, named on Friday night at the gala dinner, will present to the more than 330 delegates their award-winning research.
Inner Wheel, founded in 1924, is an international women’s organisation which combines community service with friendship and promotes international understanding, with more than 4,200 clubs and over 115,000 members from more than 100 countries.
Their national project, ongoing since 2001, focuses on supporting cord blood research.
Cord blood, rich in stem cells, has the potential to treat severe diseases, including leukemia and genetic disorders.
Through fundraising initiatives like ‘Walk 2 for 10’, merchandise sales, and generous donations, Inner Wheel Australia’s commitment to this cause has helped lead the scientific community to breakthrough studies in stem cell transplantation, improving survival rates and treatment options.
It is because of this research that Australians diagnosed with severe and rare diseases, such as leukemia and severe combined immunodeficiency, can be treated with cord blood that has the potential to save their lives.
Anyone wishing to donate to Inner Wheel Australia’s cord blood research project and be a part of their life changing work can do so via their website, just follow the links to their ‘National Project’.
