Lions Club Youth of the Year

Corowa High School’s 2021 student leadership team took on the challenge of the Corowa Lions Club Youth of the Year competition last Wednesday.

The contest is open to students in Year 12 and consists of a public speaking competition and an interview to ascertain student achievement and community involvement.

The competition is judged by local volunteers and business leaders, which this year included Mr Brian O’Shea (Paull and Scollard Real Estate), Mr Craig Waldron (Fresh on River Corowa IGA) and Mrs Kerrie Ormond.

This year’s participants, Corowa High School Captains, Rebecca Upton and Darcy Griffin, and School Vice-Captains, Angela Craft and Maxim Blockley, provided fierce competition and entertainment for the Corowa Lions Club members and supporters in attendance at the event dinner.

After an exciting contest, Angela Craft was awarded the title of Corowa Lions Club Youth of the Year and Darcy Griffin won the public speaking competition.

Angela will now go on to represent Corowa Lions Club and Corowa High School at the regional final in Yarrawonga later in the year.
