Mary Hackshaw recently found the flightless bird when travelling down Seymour-Tooborac Rd.
Ms Hackshaw thought it was only right to pull over and take a photo of the emu as it strutted down the side of the road, considering how rare it is to sight the species.
“It’s only the second one I’ve ever seen,” Ms Hackshaw said.
“We used to have one living on our property, and this was the only one I’ve seen since.
“You don’t see many around.”
The emu has since made the rounds on the Seymour community Facebook pages, with other locals sharing their run-ins with the bird and pondering on where it came from.
The Telegraph’s readers might remember Gordon, a local kangaroo who has become famous in town for frequenting Gordon St.
Is this emu a rival to Gordon or just yet another beloved Seymour animal?
