The club has submitted a development application to Federation Council for 29 rooms for short-stay accommodation.
The project is a mix of studio rooms, one and two-bedroom apartments, with luxury penthouse apartments on the top floor, and undercover carparking.
Near the hospital, and only one block from the rear of Club Corowa, the new accommodation will help address the shortage of tourism beds in Corowa, providing much needed flow-on benefits to other businesses in town.
The units have a luxury feel and are designed to complement existing accommodation products.
Club Corowa CEO, Peter Norris, said the planning and development had been ongoing over the past few years.
“We are hoping to be able to break ground in early 2027,” Mr Norris said.
“That would allow us to open the apartments during the 2027/28 summer.
“The studios and the one and two-bedroom apartments will all be interconnecting, allowing for greater flexibility within the building when booking accommodation.”
Mr Norris and the Club Corowa board had identified the growing need for quality short-stay accommodation and were also looking to set the club up for a future less reliant on gaming.
“The whole idea is to complement existing businesses and accommodation in the town,” Mr Norris said.
“While we recognise that there is definitely a commercial opportunity here for us, we are also taking this opportunity to refresh our current product and bring new product into town.
“We hope it gives other developers the confidence that Corowa is growing, and hopefully others will follow.”
CEO Peter Norris says the project demonstrates confidence in Corowa’s future.
Federation Council mayor, Cheryl Cook, said the proposed accommodation development was fantastic news and a significant show of confidence in the future of the region.
"This project will not only provide high-quality accommodation options to attract tourists and business travellers, but it will also generate valuable construction and ongoing employment opportunities for residents," Cr Cook said.
"Corowa, and the wider Federation Council area, is already a wonderful destination offering unique experiences along the Murray River, and this investment by Club Corowa will only strengthen our appeal.
“It perfectly complements our Council’s strategic goal of fostering a vibrant and sustainable local economy.
“We look forward to seeing the positive impact this development will have on local businesses, service providers, and the overall vitality of the Corowa township."
