Man charged after collision which put cyclist in hospital

Police were called to reports of a cyclist being struck during a bicycle race on Dookie-Devenish Rd at about 11.55am on September 21.

The rider, a 38-year-old Shepparton woman, was taken to hospital in a serious condition.

The driver of the truck, a 55-year-old NSW man, was uninjured and stopped at the scene.

The intersection of Dookie-Devenish Rd was closed to traffic.

A traffic marshall of the event, a 29-year-old Shepparton man, was arrested in connection with the incident.

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives have charged him with negligently causing injury and perjury.

He has been bailed to appear at Shepparton Magistrates’ Court on November 21.
