A fun day filled with laughter and loving tears is exactly how Maree Pisasale had imagined her fundraising afternoon tea would go.
Thanks to generous family and friends, Maree was able to raise $1000 for Deniliquin Can Assist.
Maree was inspired to host the event by her own recent diagnosis of ovarian cancer, and the journey she is now on.
She hosted an afternoon tea at her home, which also honoured that it was an incident in her beloved garden that lead to her diagnoses.
It was discovered when she sought medical treatment after a fall.
Guests arrived wearing scarves, a look Maree has come to be known for since shaving her head for treatment.
He current round of treatment will conclude on January 30.
“They blew my little socks off with their generosity,” Maree said of the fundraiser result.
Deniliquin Can Assist patient liaison officer Bianca Armytage said all donations to the group support local people on their own cancer journey.
“We love it when people in the community fundraise for us, but this donation was very special,” Bianca said.
“For Maree to be navigating her own journey and to also be thinking about others is pretty incredible.
“We can’t thank her and those that donated enough for their generosity.”
Funds raised by and for Deniliquin Can Assist have been used to support travel and medical expenses for local cancer sufferers.
