Ms Blakeley, a major McGrath Foundation advocate, first organised the event in 2014 in honour of her best friend who passed away to breast cancer 15 years ago. This year marks the seventh high tea event which has grown in success year after year thanks to the support of the local community.
Corowa Curtains and Decor is one local business that has thrown support high tea fundraising event with a fantastic shopfront window display. Business owner, Kay Bratt said it was a fantastic cause locals could get behind.
“We just want it to draw attention to the fact an event is being held for the Jane McGrath Foundation. Tony and Amanda have done a fantastic job decorating our front window this year. It looks fabulous,” Ms Bratt said.
“We lost a friend to breast cancer so it’s a cause close to our heart.
“We want to thank Lis from the Royal Hotel for the donation of the balloons too. They really transform the space.”
The McGrath Foundation, created by Jane McGrath, was established to help support women all over the country who have been touched by breast cancer. Over 95,000 families have been supported since 2005, and more nurses are needed to meet the growing rate of breast cancer diagnosis in Australia.
The High Tea event will include plenty of fun with auctions, prizes and entertainment all included. $10 from each ticket sold will go straight to the foundation.
Ms Blakely thanked the community for their generous support.
“The support has been amazing. I don’t think anyone has said no to me,” Ms Blakeley said.
The Corowa RSL Club will once again play host with all tickets expected to be sold out by the final purchase date on Friday, May 21.
