The Corowa RSL Club is set to host the annual McGrath High Tea on May 28, a day filled with elegance, fundraising, and fun in support of the McGrath Foundation.
The event will feature auctions, raffles, lucky door prizes, and a best hat and best dressed competition, with local auctioneer Peter Ellis overseeing the proceedings.
Organiser Kylie Witherden said she is excited to see the community get involved and raise funds for a great cause.
"Breast cancer has touched so many people in our community, and it's important that we come together to support those affected and raise awareness," she said.
Ms Witherden is encouraging businesses to get on board by booking a table.
"Businesses can have their cards and information on the tables, which is a great networking opportunity," she said.
"Local sporting clubs are also encouraged to get involved."
The event will kick off at 2pm, with doors opening at 1:15pm. Guests are encouraged to wear something pink, in honour of breast cancer awareness.
"Everyone has been touched by breast cancer in some way," Ms Witherden said. "This event is a chance for us to come together, show our support, and have a great time while doing it."
Ms Witherden is being supported by long time McGrath Foundation advocate Kay Blakeley who first organised the event in 2014 in honour of her best friend who passed away to breast cancer. This year marks the eighth high tea event which has grown in success year after year thanks to the support of the local community.
Ms Blakely has raised more than $100,000 to support breast care nurses in regional areas through High Teas and other pink fundraising events.
“The McGrath High Tea has become a beloved tradition in Corowa, and we're excited to see everyone come together again this year," Ms Witherden said.
"We welcome everyone to attend, male or female. It's a chance to dress up, catch up with friends, and make a difference in the fight against breast cancer.“
Guest speakers for the event will be announced in the coming weeks, with early bird ticket purchasers in for a bonus prize if they purchase before May 5.
Tickets are priced at $59 per person, which includes a glass of sparkling on arrival and can be purchased at www.123tix.com.au/events/38340/mcgrath-foundation-high-tea
Proceeds go to the McGrath Foundation to fund breast cancer nurses in communities across Australia.
The McGrath Foundation was founded by Jane McGrath and her husband, Australian cricket player Glenn McGrath, after Jane was diagnosed with breast cancer at age 31. The foundation's mission is to increase breast cancer awareness, support those affected by the disease, and fund McGrath Breast Care Nurses in communities across the country.
