Dr Ayon Guha and his wife, Dr Wen Guha are passionate about delivering world-class medical centres and have introduced three new doctors to their team.
Dr Visnu Khanijou is now at Yarrawonga Medical Clinic, coming from St Vincents Hospital in Melbourne.
He and his new wife made the move to country medicine, and the kind of long-term patient care he found lacking in big cities.
His interests are in diabetes, injuries and acute presentations, and skin cancer.
Dr Ayon said in the past two weeks alone, they had diagnosed five melanomas.
“The incidence here is very high,” he said.
“We found them early enough; they hadn’t yet gone deep, but early detection is very important, especially with farmers and people who work outside.”
Four months ago, the Mulwala Skin Clinic purchased a Foto Finder, a full-body mole scan machine, which tracks changes in skin cancers over time.
Lesions are compared with a data base of millions of images of skin cancers all over the world.
“It’s amazing technology, 100 times magnification and can superimpose many images to see changes; it’s a far more objective assessment,” Dr Ayon said.
Dr Chinnu Abraham joined the Corowa practice, after coming from Albury Base Hospital, and will also work in the Corowa hospital.
His interest is in psychiatry, and he will do further training in ADHD management.
“Regulations are changing to allow GPs to provide ADHD services locally,” Dr Ayon said.
“It’s still to go through parliament, but we are doing the training and preparing.”
Dr Jordan Caddy is from Canada and was working at Albury Base Hospital before he joined the Corowa Medical Clinic. He will also work in Yarrawonga one day each week.
His interests are chronic disease management, diabetes, heart failure, and skin cancer detection.
“They are all extremely lovely young doctors and looking forward to staying in the community to provide long-term patient management,” Dr Ayon said.
