Bill Montgomery has been coming to the Khaki Vehicle Enthusiasts military swim-ins in Corowa with his father, also Bill, since the 90’s.
The Khaki Vehicle Enthusiasts took to the streets of Corowa once again with an exciting parade of military bikes, Jeeps, trucks, ducks and six wheelers down Sanger St.

The annual swim-in event comes to Corowa every March, with participants travelling from all over Australia to make a splash with a different theme each year.
This year’s theme celebrated six wheelers.
Bill Montgomery had a special reason to attend this year’s event, driving his Jeep in the parade with family at his side and his father’s ashes strapped to the bonnet.
He’s been coming to the KVE swim-ins since the 90s with his father, also Bill, until Bill senior’s passing after the 2025 event.
“We’ve only ever missed two of these swim-ins,” Bill said.
“This was something he loved to do.
“We had discussed it over time, and I thought this would be a great thing for both of us.
“This is a place he loved to be.”
After the parade, Bill returned to the river and, on a military duck, spread his father’s ashes into the Murray River.
