DPI Energy Efficiency Solutions research officer, John O’Connor, said forums at Corowa (Tuesday 27), Finley (Wednesday 28) and Buronga (Thursday 29) have been tailored to meet the needs of farmers in the Murray region.
“Livestock producers, horticulturists and irrigators will gain energy market insights, explore electricity saving opportunities and learn about new opportunities to integrate alternative energy sources,” Mr O’Connor said.
“The forums will highlight renewable hydrogen energy and look at how livestock waste can be used to generate methane, adding poo power to supply farm energy.
“Experts will discuss options for solar pumping, solar diesel hybrid systems and battery storage units, which can help reduce reliance on traditional electrical and diesel power sources.
“Farm machinery, new technology and efficient tractor use too, can help save costs and boost productivity.
“Of particular value, we will run through the network set-up, power usage, charges and how to best manage energy to reduce your costs.”
90% subsidy on future energy training/ coaching bookings. Funded by State Government.
With input from NSW Department of Planning, Industry and Environment and Local Land Services the forums aim to directly deliver information to farmers about financial assistance programs, support and opportunities to help improve energy efficiency and reduce costs.
