Music skills showcased in concert

Family, friends and members of the Tocumwal community were treated to a fantastic display of musical talent by Sacred Heart Primary School students on Friday.

They were showcasing the hard work from semester one's creative arts program.

This performance allowed all in attendance to witness the culmination of two school terms of dedication.

Under the expert guidance of music teacher, Chris Bodey, students presented an impressive array of skills in both bucket drumming and singing.

“We were incredibly proud of the confidence they showed, their impressive musicality, and their excellent music reading skills,” the school said.

The concert kicked off with the Kindergarten/Year 1 and Year 2 students delivering a lively drumming performance, featuring popular tunes like Can't Stop the Feeling from Trolls and the iconic Ghostbusters theme.

Following this, the Year 2 to Year 6 students took to the stage, showcasing their drumming prowess with renditions of Roy Orbison's You Got It and American Authors' Best Day of My Life.

The event culminated in a memorable sing-along where the entire school joined voices for classic Australian songs - I Am Australian by The Seekers and John Williamson's Home Among the Gum Trees.

This was followed by heart warming performances of Count On Me by Bruno Mars and Elvis Presley's Can't Help Falling in Love With You.

“It was truly a remarkable community event, not only celebrating our students' hard work and talent but also welcoming and entertaining members of the Sacred Heart and broader Tocumwal community, deepening our connections and further strengthening relationships,” the school said.

“A special thank you to all of the Sacred Heart teaching and support staff that were involved in putting together the performance.

“Your support, hard work and genuine care for our students is nothing short of exemplary.”
