New mascot unveiled

A new mascot has been chosen to represent youth events and initiatives across Greater Shepparton, following a successful design competition for young people aged 12 to 25.

‘Shelby Shepparton’, a happy-go-lucky Australian shepherd designed by local artist Genesis Dal, emerged as the winning character after the council received numerous creative submissions from across the region.

City of Greater Shepparton Mayor Shane Sali praised the high calibre of entries.

“We have so many incredibly creative young people across our region, and this competition was a great reminder through the high quality of submissions received,” he said.

Shelby is portrayed as the youngest pup in a family of herding dogs, helping to guide the city’s Moooving cows despite her small size.

The design was selected for its strong local connections, engaging personality and compelling backstory.

As part of the prize, the winning designer will receive a fully funded professional digital design training session with an experienced industry artist and a $200 gift card to support their creative development.

The new mascot will feature on posters, digital campaigns and promotional materials for future youth initiatives.
