A 46 year-old man has been charged with assaulting and resisting police, along with a number of other charges resulting from an earlier alleged domestic violence incident.
Police were called to a home in Henry St, Deniliquin about 2.40pm Wednesday after reports of yelling and swearing coming from the home.
A man was arrested for allegedly assaulting a 51 year-old woman, and taken to Deniliquin Police Station to be interviewed and charged.
The man had to be taken to Deniliquin Hospital for treatment to a laceration, and reportedly became aggressive toward medical staff.
Police intervention was required, during which time the man is alleged to have punched the officer.
After treatment was concluded, the man was taken back to Deniliquin Police Station.
He was charged with common assault (domestic violence related), stalk and intimidate with intent (DV related), breaching an apprehended violence order, assaulting police and resisting police.
He was bail refused and transferred to the Albury correctional facility, where he was remanded in custody pending a court appearance in Wagga yesterday.
The outcome of the hearing was unknown at the time of going to print.
Multi Arts damage
Police are investigating the malicious damage of the Deniliquin Multi Arts Centre in Deniliquin.
A glass panel in a rear door was found smashed at 10am on Monday.
An Edward River Council facility, the council was notified of the damage.
