As of the last couple of months, young kids - 10 to 13 years of age - have been walking the streets at 1am to 2am in the morning.
They are swearing and yelling at passing vehicles. Where are the parents?
These kids seem to be the same group every weekend.
It is sad that the rights of parents have been taken away from them. It is time that we, as parents, start taking back our control and rights.
After all, we are the ones that have to sit there in the police station or hospital as a child cannot be questioned by police without the parent.
Hospitals cannot operate or attend to the child without parental permission.
These young kids are learning off the older kids, who are not any better.
Teenagers walking the streets, drinking, fighting, damaging businesses, and property is not just a minor problem, these kids are doing it a lot more.
People keep saying “oh they have nothing here”, which is wrong. There are plenty of things to do.
Like getting a part time job, as there are a lot of jobs and apprenticeships within the community.
Stealing is against the law. And people complain when prices are going up.
So why, as parents, do we continue to make excuses for the child’s behaviour?
When you see kids 14 years of age leaving a house within a group with a carton of beer, it makes you wonder, what does the parent do?
I would not allow my child to wander the streets or drink at such a young age.
The kids even have the audacity to ask someone else (an adult) to buy them grog and smokes.
It is time we as parents take back control and start teaching our children the way we were taught.
It did not hurt us. We are here as adults and better for the discipline.
Farmers, truck drivers, small businesses use the radio to get to their destinations.
It is concerning when people get on (and intercept channels) and are abusive, threatening and being just silly.
Have some considerations for others. Let the businesses do their job.
Yours etc.
