Funds for the project have been allocated in the Indigo Shire’s draft budget 2025/26.
The plan includes expansion of asphalt roads, new cabin locations, flat powered sites with associated services in line with the master plan and lease masterplan for the Rutherglen Caravan Park.
The plan, which is designed to optimise council assets, provides a sustainable lease framework and guides future park management.
Set on three acres of land, Rutherglen Caravan Park is surrounded by sporting and recreational facilities.
The park has 11 self-contained cabins, 31 powered caravan sites, 40 non-powered camping sites, a central amenities block, disabled facilities, coin operated laundry and a camp kitchen.
More sites are planned for the park.
Located at 72 Murray Street, it adjoins Rutherglen’s Lake King Wetlands, the swimming pool, tennis courts and Apex Park, which has a fully equipped playground, skate-park and kids cycle course.
Close by is the Rutherglen Bowls Club and a golf course.
The park operates under a lease with Indigo Shire Council, which is considering a 21-year lease with an experienced caravan park operator.
The lease terms include an annual rental based on the park's turnover and it is a requirement for the lessee to invest in developing the park according to the masterplan.
