Authorities were advised last week that much of this week would be windy with high temperatures.
Today is expected to be particularly hot, with a top of 42ºC forecast and a high fire danger rating.
The Mid Murray Zone is also urging landholders and community members to keep an eye on the conditions, and take extra precautions.
Permits may also be suspended in the zone today.
“Everyone should be alert and aware of what’s happening around them and report any fire or smoke as soon as possible,” Mid Murray Rural Fire Service district officer John Temlett said.
"Landholders should also watch for any announcements regarding permits, and we will ring those with permits as required.
“While we cannot put a stop to all hot works across the district like welding, we urge caution for people in industries that use such equipment.”
If you see a fire or smoke, call 000 immediately.
Rubbish burns prohibited
The Jerilderie NSW Fire + Rescue brigade is reminding people that permission must be sought to burn rubbish in your yard.
It comes after the brigade was called to a fire in Jerilderie on Saturday afternoon.
The occupant was burning rubbish in the backyard without a permit.
Captain Ian Desailly said while you can apply for a permit to burn rubbish through the brigade, he recommends towns people use the local waste facilities instead.
