Mr Collins, who is renovating a property at Corop, has aligned strongly himself with the Rochester community and will be a key figure in the third annual golf day at Rochester Golf Club on Saturday, August 6.
Non-golfers have been expertly catered for by the Parents and Friends Committee, which set a high standard in fund aising through its inaugural tractor pull event at the Elmore Field Days complex.
The organisation is hoping that it can maintain its momentum with the golf day, which will be supported by a high tea and an auction of goods and services.
Grant Shawcross, the former president of the group responsible for the tractor pull, is working in conjunction with his successor Allison McDonald to co-ordinate the four ball ambrose golf event.
The event is open to male and female golfers, including children, in teams of four and has an 11am hit off at a cost of $15 a player.
At 2.30pm a high tea will be held at $15 a person, with Walt Collins as guest speaker.
“We would love to have more than the last event, pre-COVID, which was about 50 players. People can just turn up on the day,” Ms McDonald said.
The tractor pull event raised the equivalent of $102 for each student at the school, an outstanding result for the first time event.
“Teams can be a combination of men, women and children. Lunch and drinks will be available on the course and after the golf we have a goods and services auction,” she said.
The auction will start at 5pm, accompanied by a selection of roast rolls or pizza.
“There are some amazing items in the auction, including vouchers, wine, sports equipment and household products,” Ms McDonald said.
