Rutherglen is expected to host around 10,000 people to the region this weekend for the much-anticipated return of Winery Walkabout.
Winemakers of Rutherglen Executive Office Annalee Nolan said she was pleased with ticket sales.
“After a couple of years of not having the event and having to reschedule it twice last year before it was cancelled, we are very excited to bring back Winery Walkabout,” Ms Nolan told The Free Press.
“Obviously, numbers are down on previous years, we’ve lost a bit of momentum with it not being on, but we are very comfortable with the numbers, especially given the labour shortages in the industry.
“We want to be able to deliver a quality event without putting pressure on local winery and hospitality staff”
Ms Nolan said the two day event promised to be a great weekend for families and groups.
“Winery Walkabout is all about great wine, great food and great entertainment,” she said.
“It’s a long-standing and much-loved event that’s been running for 48 years. This year we’ve got 18 Wineries involved.
“It’s a huge boost for the town and the region. And then there’s the market in Main Street Rutherglen on Sunday which is another element that people really enjoy. We cannot wait to host everyone again.”
