The funds will be used to create a sensory room designed to enhance the well-being of residents, particularly those with dementia, providing a safe space for relaxation and rejuvenation.
The visit was a momentous occasion for both the nursing home residents and the dedicated volunteers of Revamp Op Shop, who were warmly welcomed by the nursing home staff. A special presentation ceremony was held, followed by a delightful morning tea hosted by the nursing home to express their gratitude.
The money will be used to create a state-of-the-art sensory room within the nursing home, featuring special lighting, a comfortable massage chair, and other sensory elements aimed at providing a calming and soothing environment for the residents.
Facility Manager Katrina Gunnett expressed her heartfelt appreciation to the volunteers.
“Massive thanks to Florence, Kath, and all the volunteers at Revamp for their ongoing support,” she said.
“We are so appreciative of the donation, which helps us to continue to improve our facilities.”
The sensory room project is particularly significant for the nursing home as it will serve as a sanctuary for residents, especially those with dementia. Sensory rooms have been proven to have a positive impact on the emotional and psychological well-being of individuals living with dementia, helping them relax, reduce anxiety, and provide a reset in a safe and comfortable space.
The Corowa Nursing Home has always been committed to enhancing the quality of life for its residents, and this generous donation from Revamp Op Shop aligns perfectly with their mission.
