Paul Rettke from Rettke’s Carrier St Meats has been donating meat trays, which the RSL uses for its regular raffles, for many years.
RSL member Len ‘Tree’ Willhelm said the ongoing support was vital for its fundraising activities.
“Paul donates a meat tray to our monthly meetings, which we raffle to raise extra funds for the sub-branch,” Tree said.
“We really appreciate it.”
Mr Rettke said it was the least he could do.
“These people do a lot of hard work, and have helped a lot of people when they came back from conflicts,” he said.
“My grandfather was a serviceman, so the RSL is close to my heart.”
Tree said the sub-branch survived thanks to membership fees and donations.
“But we’d always appreciate more support,” he said.
If you are in a position to help out, you can pop along to the RSL hall on Nunn St on a Monday or Friday morning.
