Seymour College staff came face-to-face with ice for the school’s own Big Freeze challenge.

On Friday, June 20, staff members stunned in funky costumes and were watched by an audience of amused students as they slid, or fell, down a freezing slip ’n slide, all to raise funds for FightMND.

Philip Stranieri is determined to beat the ice as he flies down the slide.

The college’s own Lisa Macheras was the emcee for the event, introducing the staff members as they took on the icy challenge.

“We’ve got a special guest today, who’s my mum,” Ms Macheras said.

“She was diagnosed just over a year ago and has outlived what she was supposed to, but, truth be told, she probably won’t have that much longer.

“All of the money (raised) is very helpful and I’ve seen firsthand what it does.”

Barry Boccabella, Lisa Macheras and Katherine Howson attend the Big Freeze in support of wife and mum Victoria Boccabella.

The school has surpassed its $500 goal on its official Big Freeze fundraiser.

The money is set to go towards improving care, funding research and, eventually, finding a cure.
