Echuca Inner Wheel Club president Linda James said the silent Kris Kringle involved 18 members who contributed donations in envelopes handed to the club’s treasurer.
The funds were donated to support local charities ahead of Christmas, including Century 21 Rich River Real Estate’s Salvation Army Toy Drive and the Epicentre Red Bag Appeal.
The club’s donation will be used to purchase toys for local children and non-perishable food items for families in need this Christmas.
While the club likes to support local, it also contributes to wider causes, including Inner Wheel’s National Project, Cord Blood Research.
“We’ve donated other years to the uniting church Christmas dinner, the salvos, the red cross and we do give a lot to neighbourhood house,” Linda said.
The club, which currently has 23 members, is hoping to hold a theatre night and fashion parade next year as part of its ongoing fundraising efforts.
The Inner Wheel Club Echuca is part of a worldwide organisation, with clubs across Australia and several located in the region, including, Ballarat, Bendigo and Swan Hill.
