Local families can now apply for assistance through the Victorian Government’s camps, sports and excursions fund, which opened on January 27.
Member for Euroa Annabelle Cleeland said the fund provided important support for eligible families to help cover the cost of school camps, sporting programs and excursions.
“School camps, sporting activities and excursions are an important part of a child’s education, but for many families the cost can be a real challenge,” Ms Cleeland said.
“This support helps ensure that financial pressure doesn’t prevent students from taking part in these experiences alongside their classmates.”
Eligible families are able to apply through their child’s school, with funding paid directly to schools to support participation in approved activities.
Key information for families:
Who is eligible: Families holding a valid means-tested concession card, or those eligible under special categories, including temporary foster parents.
What it covers: School camps, excursions, outdoor education and school-organised sports activities.
How to apply: Application forms and guidance will be available through local schools once the program opens.
Ms Cleeland encouraged parents and carers to check their eligibility now and speak with their child’s school if they have questions.
“With ongoing cost-of-living pressures, programs like this can make a real difference for families,” she said.
