When you live somewhere for a long time, it’s easy for its big-ticket drawcards to lose their sheen and blend into the routine of day to day life.

It’s something paddlesteamer lovers Michael Snell and Adam Auditori have seen first hand, inspiring the latter to trial an initiative to help people fall back in love again with Echuca’s most famous attractions.
Mr Auditori offered 160 Echuca-Moama residents and his social media followers something you don’t often get to experience ‒ tickets for a free cruise on his vessel the PS Melbourne.
And tickets were snapped up in hours.
On board, punters both local and visiting were treated to a tour and history lesson about the Port of Echuca and the various vessels dotting the banks of the Murray.
The free cruise slowly snaked its way towards Morrisons Winery, dropping off a few paying travellers before embarking on its return leg.
Josh Norris was in Echuca visiting his friend Tyson Reinmuth when they heard about the free cruise.

Neither had been on the Melbourne before and Mr Reinmuth said he really enjoyed getting to see his a different side of his town.
“It was a really nice cruise with a lot of good information,” he said.
“Anything’s good when it’s free!”
Graham Ridsdale agreed.
He had visited Echuca several times in the ’80s and it didn’t take much convincing for him to join 27 other members of Pakenham’s Probus club on a group trip to the town.

“We’ve been staying just up the road,” Mr Ridsdale said.
“Everyone here has been so lovely, one of them told us about this free trip.
“It’s a great way to see the town, a lot has changed since when I used to come here all those years ago.”
Mr Auditori said more free cruises were in the pipeline.
“It’s good fun,” he said.
“A great opportunity to show off the town and port and introduce more people to beautiful vessels like this.”
